Finance Controller - Penang, Malaysia

Currently we are working with a leading Semiconductor Assembly and Test company who are looking to hire a Finance Controller responsible for all accounting, tax and treasury functions. This position will also involve establishing and maintaining accounting policies and controls, fiscal controls, preparing financial reports and safeguarding the organization's assets.

Key responsibilities:

Provides direction and guidance to accounting teams.
Oversees preparation of financial reporting according to GAAP.
Drive the finance transformation agenda to simplify the new ways of working including ERP implementation.
Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and control standards and implements policies/SOPs.
Ensures strong internal controls, accounting accuracy and timeliness, tax and regulatory compliance adherence to company’s Accounting and Compliance Policies.
Prepare annual local GAAP financial statements, filing of tax returns and all other financial compliance obligations.
Liaise with external auditor, tax agent, corporate secretary and bankers in relation to annual audit, quarterly GST submission, annual corporate tax and withholding tax submission, statutory filings and bank related matters.

Qualifications:

Relevant accounting degree or professional qualification (CA/CPA/ACCA/CIMA) with good knowledge of IFRS/local GAAP
At least 10 years of relevant commercial accounting experience in a multi-national company
Experience in managing diverse teams directly or indirectly
Experience with SAP or other ERP systems will be advantage
Knowledge of Excel Macro will be an added advantage
Exhibits an interest in connecting business to accounting and a drive for continuous improvement of processes and operational excellence in the areas of responsibilities
