Head of Supplier Quality

The Role
We are supporting a leading US multinational semiconductor manufacturer in the appointment of a Head of Supplier Quality. This role is based within the global strategic sourcing headquarters and carries responsibility for supplier quality across a predominantly Asia-based, component-driven, high-mix / low-volume supply network.
The position has been created in response to rapid business growth, increasing technology complexity, and expanding global supplier exposure. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing, maturing, and scaling the Supplier Quality function to support advanced semiconductor technologies and demanding production requirements.
This is a senior technical leadership role with significant external focus, combined with regular engagement across engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and executive leadership within a global matrix organisation.
Scope and Responsibilities
- Define and lead the global Supplier Quality operating model, aligned to semiconductor technology roadmaps, production ramp plans, and long-term sourcing strategies
- Establish, standardise, and continuously improve Supplier Quality Management Systems, governance structures, and performance metrics
- Own end-to-end supplier quality across the lifecycle, including supplier qualification, risk assessment, audits, capability development, and ongoing performance management
- Drive robust quality control, quality assurance, and defect prevention methodologies across a technically complex supplier base
- Lead structured root cause analysis, CAPA, and systemic issue resolution, particularly in high-impact, high-value components
- Provide supplier quality leadership during new product introduction (NPI), technology transfers, process changes, and capacity expansion
- Partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Yield, Strategic Sourcing, and Operations to ensure supplier quality supports cost, delivery, and yield objectives
- Act as the senior escalation point for supplier quality issues and represent Supplier Quality in executive reviews and global governance forums
- Build long-term, performance-driven supplier relationships focused on capability, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive experience in Supplier Quality / Supplier Quality Management within the semiconductor industry or closely related advanced manufacturing environments
- Demonstrated success in building, transforming, or scaling a Supplier Quality function within a global organisation
- Strong technical grounding in quality management systems, quality control methodologies, and supplier quality tools
- Hands-on experience with component-based, high-mix / low-volume semiconductor supply chains
- Proven track record working with Asia-based suppliers, ideally across multiple semiconductor ecosystems
- Clear understanding of how supplier quality directly impacts manufacturing performance, yield, reliability, and product lifecycle outcomes
- Comfortable operating in a high-value, precision-driven, fast-paced production environment
- Credible and effective communicator at senior and executive level, internally and externally
