Role Purpose
This role is accountable for delivering significant cost savings, enhancing supplier relationships, ensuring compliance, and managing key local and one global spend category/global initiative.
The role will report into Global Head of Procurement with matrix reporting to the Country Manager of Australia.
Role Accountabilities
- Country Procurement Management
- Lead the coordination and leveraging of addressable spends across Australia to drive value and efficiency.
- Deliver annual savings of 3-5% on addressable spend through strategic sourcing, negotiation, and process optimization.
- Drive improvements in Purchase Order (PO) compliance and other key procurement metrics.
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of existing contracts and legacy suppliers to identify opportunities for consolidation, renewal, or re-sourcing.
- Redefine and segment the supplier base across key categories, including MRO, Energy & Utilities, Land Transportation, and Capex.
- Establish and manage a robust Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program with key strategic suppliers in the region.
- Digital Transformation & Process Excellence
- Champion the modernization of the procurement function by leading the implementation and adoption of digital tools such as Spend Cube, ProCon (our RFx tool), and Olam Agri’s Generative AI platforms.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement from an end-to-end perspective using digital, AI, and advanced analytics.
- Work with the business to understand spend, risk profile, requirements, and existing processes to facilitate transformation.
- Global Category/NCP initiative Management
- Assume responsibility for one global procurement category, developing and executing a company-wide strategy for that category.
- Determine and implement global sourcing strategies, RFx processes, and contract management standards for the assigned category.
- Ensure that spend optimization, savings, and compliance metrics are achieved for the assigned global category.
Key Skills & Experience
- A minimum of 15 years of strategic procurement experience.
- At least 10 years of demonstrated procurement experience within the Australia/New Zealand (ANZ) market.
- Proven track record of developing and maintaining effective business relationships and acting as a credible and influential business partner.
- Strong experience in key procurement categories such as MRO, Energy & Utilities, Land Transportation, and Capex.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver significant cost savings and performance improvements.
- Experience in leading procurement modernization and implementing digital tools (e.g., e-sourcing platforms, spend analytics, P2P systems).
- Additional desirable skills include project management, technology implementation, and effective communication with global leadership.
