A global technology leader undergoing a major step-change in growth is seeking a Senior / Director, Category Sourcing for Advanced Materials. As part of this evolution, we are hiring a senior leader to architect and own the global category strategy for advanced materials — the highly technical components that sit at the core of next-generation technology.
The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to shape a category of critical importance while influencing decisions across engineering, operations, quality, and business units. You will play a significant part in building a best-in-class sourcing function: modern, data-enabled, strategically forward-looking, and deeply collaborative with technology and product teams.
The mandate is bold: develop a 3–5-year category roadmap, ensure suppliers are ahead of future technology needs, embed total cost of ownership (TCO) excellence, and create a resilient and scalable supply base capable of supporting aggressive global growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Build a future-ready sourcing strategy for advanced materials including quartz, silicon carbide, ceramics, graphite, heaters and related categories.
• Drive supplier innovation by partnering with technical leaders and establishing joint development roadmaps.
• Influence value chain outcomes, from raw materials through manufacturing, surface treatment and end-of-life processes.
• Establish world-class supplier performance, including zero-defect quality expectations, stable delivery performance and continuous improvement.
• Lead a global team, developing technical sourcing talent and embedding a culture of excellence and data-driven decision making.
• Strengthen organisational capability through SRM programs, risk mitigation plans, second sourcing strategies, and long-range capacity planning.
What We’re Looking For
• 15+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, engineering, or category management within a high-complexity environment (semiconductor, aerospace, medical devices, advanced manufacturing).
• Deep technical understanding of advanced materials and their role within high-precision manufacturing.
• A proven ability to lead global teams and influence senior engineering, operations and business stakeholders.
• Experience building category strategies, negotiating complex commercial agreements, and managing globally diversified supply bases.
• A strategic thinker who anticipates technology shifts and translates them into sourcing plans that secure competitive advantage.
